cerritosallstars.com is HELLA dope when they are just mixing, but I ABSOLUTELY HATE WHEN THE DJS TALK TOO MUCH. they’re not radio personality-types and they talk about the most random shit, i can’t relate.

but like i said, i can’t do homework very well without them. i just wish they talked less. hah.

in other news, i love my silkscreening class more than ever.

i thought i’d blog about the subject because it always seems to just follow me around these days:

the question of the next six months is: “ARE YOU GUYS GETTING MARRIED?”

see, its a funny subject. its a subject with way too many factors involved. its a weird question though, because i think people seem to pose it in an awkward way.

its time to answer:

1. yes. if i didn’t think i’d marry jeff, then i wouldn’t have lasted six years.

2. but, i don’t want to get married anytime soon.

2a. i’m living ridiculously out of my means and that is only because i am still supported by the two individuals that brought me into this world, my parents. thank god for them. if i can’t provide for myself, and if jeff can’t provide for himself, then obviously we can’t provide for eachother. until then, you will not see us walking down the aisle. i realize that the time is coming up, we’ll probably get some decent jobs with insurance, maybe 401k, but until i’m fully financially independent or until he is… i just can’t go down that path yet.

the better question is: “when are you guys getting married?”

i’ve realized that i am putting off certain aspects in my life off. if you asked me at the age of 18, i wanted to be married at 24, aka this year, and have a baby by the time i was 26. right now, i want to push everything back, it can all wait. adulthood has so many decisions, factors, and reprocussions to think about.

i would love to meet a sick ass design student who isn’t in ridiculous debt.

i doubt i will ever meet one.

for one thing, this major is crazy expensive. if you can’t afford it, or aren’t willing to use plastic to pay for things, you probably will not make it, or you just won’t end up as a very good designer.

its the truth.

- large format printer, r1800, $549 (plus a constant… CONSTANT, supply of 8 different ink cartridges, costing $14.99 each) the damn thing drinks ink like its water, and you know when you run out of ink? naturally… the day before a project is due.
- apple powerbook (12″), $1800
- epson perfection scanner, $250
- cannon digital slr, $800
- adobe software (optional price, if you get my drift)

some of that stuff mentioned above is optional. some people don’t have top of the line printers/cameras/scanners/computers… thats just most of the hardward involved with this major.. you can go to the nightmare called kinko’s to get your projects printed out, but like i said… then that person is probably not a sick ass designer…

that list doesn’t include materials you ALWAYS NEED TO BUY…

- paper, twice a semester, $100 each time
- exacto blades, 100 pack, $40
- black letramat, $2 for each piece you need to mount

plus a ton of other crap.

you can’t be cheap and try to make your stuff look good. you can probably try… but in the end you pay the price for quality, and quality costs money. i’m not saying you can’t get a good deal from time to time… i’m saying this major is dreadfully expensive.

the portfolio i posted i couple of days ago, the entire package with everything i need, not including paper, $200.

my mind is running miles a minute, i’m running off a high from the possibilities of future workplaces.

how many people feel that way when they’re about to graduate? i love what i do. i get lazy sometimes, ONLY SOMETIMES, but i love what i do.

jeff and i are going to work at completely different places doing completely different things, we are two very different designers with different places & goals in mind.

we ran a whole bunch of tolls while in dallas last month, i’m still waiting for my dad to call me asking why the hell enterprise is charging me for unpaid tolls.

maybe they won’t even send us a bill?

I KNOW I ALWAYS SAY THIS…

but i have a five year goal to give up red meat.

for one thing, its getting harder and harder to cook the stuff. i was making spaghetti earlier, and the ground beef just kills me, it smells so bad. last week i attempted to make steaks on a foreman grill, i only ate half.

i swear it isn’t some pretentious thing, i don’t think its elite to be a vegetarian or give up red meat. its just personal preference. i’m even picky about water, i swear i can tell the difference about different bottled waters, i really don’t care if its just purified or fijian artisanal spring water, its the taste.

i don’t eat pork and i absolutely hate dark meat chicken. red meat is another hump to get over, the only time i love meat is carne asada, then again chicken is just as tasty. i wonder if taquerias can make a chicken california, or pollo asado fries. i have to ask next time.

i think i can totally live as a pescatarian, fish and seafood don’t bother me at all and i can eat gardenburgers, i like them.

by the time i’m 30, i don’t want to eat red meat anymore.

i’m adding that to my five year list, “the five years after graduation” list.
